Music is subjective to the mood of the listener.
Each one of us has a complex and diverse need of what we want to hear, and that is subject to change with our moods. Our life experiences, trends and constant influences have shaped the way we feel about music and how we listen to it.
We listen to music for inspiration, to open our minds, to alter and enhance our emotional states. When a poet has put his words to music, he is telling you a story, and you identify with it, but its not your story. This rarely attracts me.
What does attract me is the instrumental composition. This offers listening on another level. You become the visualist and the musical journey is more personal.
